Amasty Out of Stock Notification vs Mageplaza Out of Stock Notifications vs Aheadworks Out of Stock Notification

Compare Amasty, Mageplaza and Aheadworks restock alerts for Magento: guest subscriptions, product variations, Hyvä, licensing and renewal questions.

An orange notification bell and sweeping ribbon connect an empty shelf with newly restocked parcels.

A shopper finds the right size and color, but the combination is unavailable. Removing the product loses a useful landing page; displaying a generic notification form can send an irrelevant message when a different variation returns. A useful back-in-stock extension connects the customer’s specific request to genuinely saleable stock.

This comparison considers Amasty Out of Stock Notification, Mageplaza Out of Stock Notifications and Aheadworks Out of Stock Notification. All three are Magento extensions addressing restock subscriptions. Official product pages, manuals, release notes and marketplace records were checked on October 22, 2026. We have not installed them, evaluated email delivery or measured recovered revenue.

What belongs in a restock notification workflow?

Adobe documents native price and stock alerts, including scheduled processing and error notifications. Establish whether those native controls already cover your signed-in customers before buying an extension. The additional requirements usually concern guest subscriptions, variation selection, form placement, reporting or incentives.

Separate customer restock messages from internal low-stock warnings. A purchasing manager needs an inventory threshold; a shopper needs the correct item to be available for purchase. Neither is the same as a preorder promise. Where several inventory sources serve different websites, agree which saleable-stock event should trigger a message and which storefront the message links to.

USD price observations are for the stated editions and exclude unconfirmed tax or service charges. No free edition of these extensions was verified. Confirm first-year and later-year costs independently, including compatibility packages and the production-store license.

Amasty Out of Stock Notification

Amasty is a useful candidate when subscription administration matters as much as the form itself. The product describes guest popups, customer-managed subscriptions and grids for stock and price alerts. Category-page subscriptions can also capture interest before a shopper opens the product page.

The guide provides a minimum-stock trigger and support for subscribing to unavailable simple options of configurable products. That distinction matters for apparel, replacement parts and finish-dependent inventory. Show the vendor a parent product with one available and one unavailable child and ask which SKU, picture and store-view URL will appear in the notification.

The current product page lists Magento 2.4.9, 2.4.8-p5, 2.4.7-p10, 2.4.6-p15 and 2.4.5-p15. Although the headline describes Hyvä readiness, the guide still identifies amasty/module-out-of-stock-hyva-compatibility and amasty/module-osn-graphql. It ties compatibility availability to an active product or support subscription. The release history explicitly identifies PHP 8.4/2.4.8 support; ask for the precise PHP matrix for your newer branch.

Strength: documented control over subscriptions, thresholds and variation presentation. Limitation: reports describe recorded requests, not guaranteed future sales, and headline compatibility does not resolve every package dependency. A dependable selected-edition price and renewal amount were not exposed in this research. Request Open Source or Commerce pricing, registered production-instance scope, website coverage and any required queue-consumer setup in writing.

Mageplaza Out of Stock Notifications

Mageplaza combines restock alerts with price-change subscriptions. Its current product is reached from the older Product Alerts URL, so older documentation and package references may still use that name. Treat those names as one product rather than buying or comparing them as separate tools.

The product describes a customizable popup, customer-group eligibility, guest subscriptions and manual or scheduled emails. Its configuration guidance includes an alert schedule and an administrator error email. These controls fit teams that want a straightforward operational cycle: collect requests, process the queue, and investigate failures with an identifiable owner.

The page lists Magento 2.4.4–2.4.9, version 4.0.11, API/GraphQL and PWA readiness. Its release notes add Magento 2.4.9 in June 2026 and configurable-child subscription support in January 2026. Hyvä compatibility is advertised, but the FAQ distinguishes checkout fallback and compatibility requests requiring an active subscription. Ask which package is supplied for your particular Hyvä Theme and Checkout versions; do not assume an API label includes a finished PWA form.

Observed pricing is $199 Community or $399 Enterprise/Magento Cloud for the first year, including support and updates. The renewal amount and a complete PHP matrix were not confirmed. Mageplaza’s license covers one live Magento installation and unlimited test installations; clarify multiple websites before purchase. Strength: stock and price subscriptions in one documented workflow. Limitation: form placement, variant behavior and frontend packaging must be verified against your actual theme rather than inferred from the headline.

Aheadworks Out of Stock Notification

Aheadworks adds an interesting option for merchants considering a restock incentive. Its Adobe Commerce Marketplace listing describes optional unique coupons alongside variation-aware subscriptions, inline or popup forms, customer-managed requests and reCAPTCHA v3 protection. A coupon should be a deliberate margin decision, not the automatic answer to every stock shortage.

The directly fetched Marketplace record shows version 1.1.0, updated August 24, 2026. Release notes identify Magento 2.4.9 and Hyvä compatibility; the edition selector includes Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce on-premises/cloud. Exact PHP constraints, Hyvä package requirements, Luma overrides and PWA coverage remain questions for the vendor. A generic 2.4 compatibility label is not a complete patch matrix.

The listing states one year of support and updates with access to the original codebase and a yearly subscription model. Its unselected price fields show zero, which we have not treated as a free offer. Confirm the selected-edition price, renewal and production-site entitlement. Strength: optional restock coupons. Limitation: the public purchase and integration details need clarification before a reliable total-cost comparison.

For a demonstration, ask the service team to explain one delayed coupon, one repeated subscription and one exhausted product. The useful outcome is a procedure your staff can operate when an inventory import is late or a customer reports an irrelevant email. This is an acceptance recommendation, not a claim about observed extension behavior.

Check inventory events before email styling

Use the same sample catalog for every candidate: a simple product, a configurable product with an unavailable child, and an item assigned to two website stocks. Restock only one source, allow reservations to reduce saleable quantity, then run the normal notification schedule. Record whether the intended subscriber receives the correct variation and buying link.

Next, consider a small replenishment with many subscribers. Ask whether notifications can be limited or paced so that the first few purchases do not leave everyone else opening another unavailable product. Also establish how repeated subscriptions, opt-outs, deleted products and an email service outage are handled. These questions expose operational fit more clearly than a popup screenshot.

Provide the exact Magento edition/patch, PHP, inventory configuration, Luma/Hyvä version and custom checkout. Request Composer dependencies and any message-queue consumers. A merchant with a headless storefront should identify API operations, authentication and who implements the subscription interface.

Make the commercial comparison complete

Count live Magento installations separately from websites and store views, then ask each vendor to map that topology to its license. Include the next two renewal years, any subscription needed for compatibility modules, custom styling and email-service costs. Free installation may cover only the vendor’s standard setup.

Keep an inventory owner and a notification owner. Someone should review failed jobs and links after a catalog migration, while merchandising staff decide which unavailable products remain visible. Coordinate presentation with your catalog filtering and product label rules so the same product does not display contradictory availability messages.

Which should you investigate first?

Start with Amasty for deeper subscription administration and threshold controls, Mageplaza for combined stock/price alerts and configurable forms, or Aheadworks when coupon incentives are a real requirement. Choose only after the vendor demonstrates the correct child SKU and website stock on your required stack. An email subscription is evidence of interest, not a benchmark or a forecast of recovered sales.
